Article 46
Measures re1ated to processed coffee
(1) Members recognise the need of deve10ping countries to broaden the
base of their economies through.

industria1isation and the
export of manufactured products. inc1uding the processing of coffee and
the export of processed coffee.

this connection. Members shal1 avoid the adoption of governmenta1
measures which cou1d cause disruption to the coffee sector of other Members.
(3) Should a Xember consider that the provisions of paragraph (2) of this
Article are not being complied with, it should consult with the other
Hembers concerned, having due regard to the provisions of Article 57. The
Members concerned sha11 make every effort to reachamicable settlement

a bilateral basis. If these consultations do not lead to a mutually
satisfactory solution, either party rnay bring the matter before the Council
for consideration under the provisions of Article 58.
(4) Nothing

this Agreement shall prejudice the right

any Member to
take measures to prevent

remedy disruption to its coffee sector by
imports of processed coffee.

Promotion
(1) Members undertake to encourage the consumption of coffee by every
possible means.
