VACANCY.
Applications are invited for the post of Engineer-
Hydrologist in the Water Development Department.
The appointment will be on contract for a period of
two years in thefirstinstance. The salary of the
post is £900x30—1,020x36—1,200 and £1,236X
42—1,404X48—1,548. Cost-of-living allowance is
also payable at the rate approved by Government
from time to time, the present rate being 2 8 | % of
salary. In case of exceptional qualifications and
experience a higher salary may be offered.
Duties and responsibilities: To be in charge of
the Hydrological Section of the Department. Col–
lecting and recording hydrological data regarding
spring and stream discharges, flood discharges, levels
of underground water, extraction from wells and
boreholes, chemical quality, etc. Tabulating and
interpreting results. Preparation of information for
publication. To assist in the operation of drilling
plant and pump testing of wells and boreholes as
well as in civil engineering and geological work.
Qualifications : Degree in Civil Engineering and
a knowledge of hydraulics and physical geology.
Associate membership of the Institution of Civil
Engineers and Water Engineers is desirable. Can–
didates between the ages of 30 and 35 will be

Water Engineer in the Department of Water Deve–
lopment. The appointment will be on contract for
a period of two years in thefirstinstance. The
salary of the post is £900X30—1,020X36—£1,200
and £1,236X42—1,404X48—1,548. Cost-of-living
allowance is also payable at the rate approved by
Government from time to time, the present rate

Water Development Officer by : —
{a) undertaking investigations, surveys and
designs of miscellaneous water develop–
ment works, including cdnservation, irriga–
tion, drainage, town and rural water
supplies, etc. ;
(0) supervising the construction of water deve–
lopment works.
Qualifications : Degree in Civil Engineering and
Associate Membership of the Institution of Civil
Engineers or the equivalent. Not less than 12
years successful post-graduate experience in investi–
gation and construction of water works. Candidates
between the ages of 35 and 50 will be preferred.

no longer a member of the Ethical Committee.
