2. The successful candidate will be required to
undergo training in physiotherapy in the Nicosia
General Hospital and in this connection she will be
required to perform such duties in the practice of
physiotherapy as may be assigned to her.
The qualifications required are :—
(a) leaving certificate of a Secondary School ;
and
(6) English Lower (credit level) or
English Higher (pass level).
3. Applications should be submitted on Form
Gen. 6 to the Acting Director of Medical Services
not later than Monday the 28th March, 1960.

Student Nurse (Female), Medical
Department.
VACANCIES.
Applications are invited lor a large number of
vacancies in the temporary post of Student Nurse
(Female) in the Medical Department. The salary
of the post is £144 per annum rising by annual
increments of £12 to £204 per annum. Cost-of-
living allowance is also payable at the rate approved
by Government from time to time, the present
rate being 2%\
r
/c of salary. The successful
candidates will be required to undertake a two or
three-year course of training at the Nurses' Training
School, Nicosia,.
2. The qualifications required are as follow.*,
depending on the course which the successiul
candidate will be required to take :—
(a) for Cyprus Registered Nurses (3 years'
course) : A minimum of four years
Secondary school education. Very good
knowledge of English. Candidates should
be not less than 18 years old. They will
be required to sit for an entrance examina–
tion in English.
(b) for Assistant Nurses (Z years' course) :
A minimum of two years Secondary school
education. Candidates should be not less
than 17 years old. Lectures will be in
Greek or Turkish.
3. Applications should be made on Form Gen. 6
obtainable at Government Employment Exchanges
and should reach the Acting Director of Medical
Services accompanied by Birth and School Certifi–
cates not later than Monday the 28th March, 1960.
Candidates who have already submitted applica–
tions on Form Gen. 6 within the last six months
need not fill another application form. It will be
sufficient if they notify the Acting Director of Medi–
cal Services by letter that they still wish to be
considered for the posi:

Temporary Assistant Welfare Officer,
Female, Social Welfare Department,
Greek Section.
Applications are invited from Greek Cypriots
for the temporary post of Assistant Welfare Offi–
cer, Female, in the Greek Section of the Social
Welfare Department. The salary of the post is
£426 per annum rising by annual increments of
£24 to £594, plus cost-of-living allowance at the
approved rate, which is at present 28|-%.
2. Duties and responsibilities : Social case-work
with delinquents, deprived, destitute and related
cases. It includes the submission of reports and
correspondence both in Greek and English and
entails visiting and interviewing. The work is
not confined to office hours.
3. Qualifications: Knowledge of English to
Distinction level ; general education to standard
of Cyprus Certificate of Education ; strong phy–
sique ; intelligence ; personality ; maturity and
temperamental stability ; ability to win con–
fidence and to deal with others patiently and sym–
pathetically.
4. Candidates, who should be British subjects,
should not be less than
22
and not more than 35
years old. The successful candidate should be
prepared to work anywhere in the Island and to
travel in village areas.
5. Applications should be submitted on Form
Gen. 6. They should be addressed to the Chief
Welfare Officer (Greek) and posted to arrive not
later than the 28th March, i960. Applications
from Government officials and employees should
be submitted through their Head of Department.
6. Any canvassing for this post via any
member of the Selection Board will be a dis–
qualification.

In exercise of the powers vested in him by
section 3 (1) of the Pharmacy and Poisons Law,
His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
appoint Mr. Hussein Timur Azmioglu, as
a
member of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board in
the place of Mr. Madjit Tewfik who has resigned.

A P P O I N T M E N T O F M A R R I A G E OFFICER.
In exercise of the powers vested in him by
section 3 of the Foreign Marriage Law and by
section 3 of the Marriage Law, His Excellency the
Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. Nicos
Georghiou Lanitis, Administrative Assistant, 1st
Grade, to be a Marriage Officer for the Districts
of Nicosia and Kyrenia in addition to the Com–
missioner, Nicosia and Kyrenia.
Public Instrument No. 1013 of 1958 published
in Gazette No. 4179 of 25th September, 1958, is
hereby cancelled.
