NOTE.—Ex-Officio and Non-elective Members. Under Clause 16 of His Majesty's Order in Council dated the 6th
July, 1907, and under the Additional Instructions dated the 3rd December, 1909, the Non-elective Members
of the Legislative Council shall be the persons for the time being lawfully discharging the duties of the offices
of Chief Secretary to the Government of Cyprus, Ring's Advocate, and Treasurer, and such other holders of
pubhc offices in the Island, not exceeding three in number at any one time, as His Majesty may from time
to time appoint by auy Instruction or. Warrant under His Sign Manual and Signet or through one of His
Principal Secretaries of State.
Elective Members. Under His Majesty's Order in Council dated tbe 6th July, 1907, of the twelve
Elective Members of the Legislative Council, three shall be elected by the Mahometan and nine by the non-
Mahometan voters. The Island shall be divided into three Electoral Districts, each returning four members,
one elected by the Mahometan, and three by the non-Mahometan voters. Every person who is for the time
being registered as a voter (|) in any Electoral District for the election of Members of tbe Legislative
Council, and who is not subject to any of the following disqualifications, namely, a Judge of any Court in
the Island; a Public Contractor; an Uncertified Bankrupt; or a person convicted of any offeuces and
sentenced to imprisonment for a term of not less than six months, until the expiration or remission of such
sentence or of the unexpired residue thereof, shall be eligible as a Member of the Council for any Electoral
District.
