FIELD OF MERCHANT SHIPPING
The Government

Desiring to develop the friendly relations between the two countries.

to extend and enhance the co-operation in the field

the present Agreement:
1.
The term "vessel
οί
a Contraoting Party"
shall mean any sea-going merchant vessel,
ίη­
cluding fishing vessels, registered
ίη
the shipping
register of that Contracting Party and flying its
flag.
2. The term " member
οί
the crew " shall mean
any person employed
οη
board a vessel, including
the master. and entered
ίη
the orew list.
3. The term "port
οί
one Contracting Party "
shall mean any sea-port, including roads,teads, in
the territory, of the Contracting Party, which is
declared open to
internaιt:ional
shipping by that
Contraotmg Party.
Article 2
1.
Thc Contracting Parties agree :
(a)

promote participation

their vessels

the transportation
οί goσds
between their
ports;
(b) to co-opera,te
ίη
eliminat'ing any hindrances
whioh may hamper the development of
seaborne trade between their ports;
(c) ,to encourage the partIcipatIon

their ves–
sels, whenever feasible,
ίη thetransρorta­

goods between their ports and to
and from third countries.
2.
The provisions

this Article shall not affect
the participation
οί
vessels
οί
third countries
ίη
the seaborne trade between the ports
οί
the Con–
tracting Parties.
Article
3
1.
The shippmg and fishing enterprises regi–
stered and operatmg under the laws and regula–
tions
οί
either Contracting Party and having their
regίstered
office
ίη
the territory
οί
either Con–
tracting Party. may agree to operate jointly or
to establish jointly owned companies
ίn
the ter–
ritory
οί
either Contracting Party, as wel1 as to
conclude agreements
οη
technical and commercial
maHers.
2. The cooperation may also be extended into
the fields
οί
maritime administration, ports and
maritime traming and bet:ween research inst'i-tutes
dealmg with shipping and fisheries
ίη
both
countries.
Article 4
The shippmg enterprises or companies
οί
one
Contracting Party shall be entitled to set

representa-tion, whenever necessary. in the territory

,the other Contraoting Party. The activities

this representation shall be
