Article 68
Duration and termination
(1) This Agreement shall remain
ίη
force for a period
οί
six years until
30
September 1989 unless extended under the provisions of paragraph (2)
of this Artic1e or terminated under the provisions of paragraph (3) of
this Artic1e.
(2)
The Counci1 rnay, at any time after
30
September 1987 by a vote of
58 percent of the Members having not 1ess than a distributed rnajority of
70
percent of the tota1 votes, decide either that this Agreement be
renegotiated or that it be extended, with or without modification, for
such period as the Counci1 sha11 determine. Any Contracting Party which
by the date

which such renegotiated or extended Agreement enters into
force has not made a notification of acceptance of such renegotiated or
extended Agreement to the Secretary-Genera1 of the United Nations, or any
territory which is either a Member or a party to a Member group
οη
behalf
of which such notification has not been made by that date, shall as of
that date cease to participate

such Agreernent.
(3) The Council rnay at any time, by a vote of a majority of the Mernbers
having not less than a distributed two-thirds majority of the total votes,
decide to terminate this Agreement. Termination shall take effect

such
date as the Council shall decide.
(4) Notwithstanding the terrnination of this Agreement, the Counci1 sha11
remain
