ability to select a meteorological site which involves
the assessment of many physical factors and a care–
ful judgment based on experience and to control

VACANCY.
Applications are invited from suitable candidates
for a vacancy in the temporary post of Meteorolo–
gical Assistant, 2nd Grade.
2. The salary of the post is £300x18—426x24
— 5 9 4 per annum plus cost-of-living allowance at the
rate approved by Government from time to time, the
present rate being 2 8 £ % of salary.
3. Duties : The duties of the post will com–
prise :—
(a) the making of routine weather observations ;
(b) the critical checking of outstation records ;
(c) the preparation of simple statistics ;
(d) the preparation of charts and diagrams ;
(e) the adjustment of and simple repairs to
instruments ;
(f) general office
routine
;
(g) any other suitable duties which may be
assigned to him by the Head of his Depart–
ment or other duly authorized officer.
4. Qualifications required •* The candidate should
have passed the Cyprus Certificate of Education in
the following subjects :—
English Higher (pass level)
Mathematics A and B (pass level)
and at least two other subjects—Geography or
Science subject being preferable.
5. Applicants, who should be Cypriots, should
submit their applications on Form Gen. 6 to the

Department.
VACANCY.
Applications are invited from Turkish Cypriots
for one vacancy in the permanent and pensionable
post of Examiner of Accounts, 2nd Grade. The
appointment will in the first instance be made on a
temporary basis. The salary of the post is £57!)
X24—690X30—720, plus cost-of-living allowance
al the rates approved by Government from time to
time, the present rate being 281% of salary.
2. Duties and responsibilities : The primary
duties of the post are to assist in, or carry out, the
audit and inspection of public accounts, and gene–
rally to perform any other duties arising out of the
audit of such accounts which may be assigned by
the Chief Auditor.
3. Qualifications reqitired : (a) The Higher Certi–
ficate in Accountancy of the London Chamber of
Commerce or some other examination approved as
of equivalent standard ; and
(6) For unestablished officers in the service, or
for applicants outside the service, possession of the
Cyprus Certificate of Education in the following
subjects at the levels indicated.
(1) English Higher
Credit level.
(2) Turkish Higher
Pass level.
(3) Mathematics " A "
Credit level.
(4) Mathematics " B "
Pass level.
(5) Any three other subjects at pass level.
{c) A special knowledge of Government account–
ing methods and Government rules and regulations
in so far as they relate to finance and accounts will
also be an advantage.
4. Applications should be submitted on Form
Gen. 6 so as to reach the Chief Auditor, Nicosia,
not later than the 28th May, 1960. Applicants
already in the Government service should submit
their applications through their Head of Depart–
ment.

Assistant Examiner, Official Receiver and
Registrar's Department.
V A C A N C Y .
Applications are invited from Turkish Cypriot
candidates for a vacancy in the permanent and
pensionable post of Assistant Examiner in the De–
partment of the Official Receiver and Registrar.
The appointment will in the first instance be made
on a temporary basis. The salary of the post is
£426X24—642 per annum, plus cost-of-living
allowance at the rate approved by Government from
time to time, the present rate being 28\

/c of salary.
2. Duties and responsibilities : To assist or carry
out duties relating to the examination of documents,
keeping of records, accounts (if any), statistics, col–
lection of fees and other work pertaining to one of
the Sections of the Department. Generally to
perform any other duties of an examining or clerical
nature as may be assigned to the officer.
3. Qualifications required :
(i) Either appropriate secondary education and
a good knowledge of English and Turkish,
or
the following subjects of the Cyprus Certifi–
cate of Education at the levels indicated :
{a) English Higher . . . . Credit level.
(b) Turkish Higher . . . . Pass level.
(c) Mathematics " A " . . Credit level.
{d) Any three other subjects at Pass leveL
(ii) One of the following examinations, or their
equivalents, according to the duties of the
Section to which he will be posted : —
(a) Commercial Law L.C.C. (Higher).
(b) Book-keeping and Accountancv L.C.C.
(Higher).
(c) Companies Law and Winding-up
L.C.C. (Higher).
Candidates who have not already passed the
required examination may be allowed to do so within
two years of appointment.
4. Applications should be submitted on Form
Gen. 6 and should reach the Official Receiver and
Registrar, Nicosia, not later than the 28th May,

APPOINTMENT OF VALUERS UNDER SECTION
66(1).
In exercise of the powers vested in the Governor
by section 66 (1) of the Immovable Property (Te–
nure, Registration and Valuation) Law and duly
delegated to the Administrative Secretary by public
Instrument No. 172 of 1947, the Acting Admi–
nistrative Secretary directs it to be notified for
general information that the following Land Clerks
have been appointed as valuers : —
