Department of Civil Aviation Fireman Marshal.
VACANCY.
Applications are invited from Turkish Cypriots
for one vacancy in the temporary post of Fireman/
Marshal in the Department of Civil Aviation. Can–
didates should be British subjects.
2. The salary of the post is £264 per annum
rising by annual increments of £18 to £426 per
annum, plus cost-of-living allowance at the approved
rate which is at present 28£%.
3. Duties and responsibilities : Responsible for
marshalling aircraft into position as directed by
Airport Assistant, and for ensuring that pilots have
sufficient room to manoeuvre aircraft in the parking
area without risk of collision or damage. The mar-
shaller also undertakes the duties of a fireman when
aircraft engines are started up or run in the parking
area. The holder of this post will be required to
work on shift duties.
4. Qualifications : High standard of physical fit–
ness. Good general education. Knowledge of
English to the standard of the English Lower Exa–
mination. Mental alertness and ability to keep his
head in an emergency is essential.
