SPECIFICATION OF TAXES, DUTIES, &C.
••GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL FEES.
1. Patients requiring hospital treatment w h o are, or whose relatives are, in\
a position to pay for it may, with the permission of the Director of Medical Services,
be admitted to the private wards and will pay the following fees :—

3. Patients of small means w h o are not entitled to a Mukhtar's certificate may,
subject to the approval of the Director of Medical Services, be admitted to the general
wards on payment of a fee of not less than Is. and not more than 2s. per diem as
the Director of Medical Services m a y direct.
4. Government officials are allowedVfree medical attendance and will pay the fees
for board and lodging only in accordance with the class of accommodation given to

5. Persons attending the Venereal Diseases Clinic w h o are not in possession of a
Mukhtar's certificate, shall, in addition to the cost of drugs issued to them by the
dispensary, pay the following fees :—

6.—(1) Patients w h o are holders of white certificates shall receive free medical
treatment and hospital accommodation.
(2) A white certificate is granted by a Mukhtar to any person enrolled on the Paupers'
List of his district and indicates that the holder is without resources and is unable
to work.
7. (1) Patients w h o are holders of blue certificates shall pay lp. for each visit
to the out-patient department (to include drugs and dressing) and 2p. for each day
in the hospital.
(2) A blue certificate is granted by a Mukhtar to a person, or to his dependants
if unable to work, w h o earns not more than 15p. per diem and who does not own
property exceeding £20 in value (exclusive of a dwelling-house, if any).
g (ij Patients who are the holders of buff certificates shall pay a fee of not less
than 2p. and not more than 6p. for each visit to the out-patient department as the
Director of 3Iedical Services m a y direct (to include drugs and dressing) and a fee of j
not less than 6p. and not more than 9p. for each day in the hospital.
(2) A buff certificate is granted by a Mukhtar to a person, or to his dependants '
if unable to work, w h o earns not less than 16p. and not more than Zs. per diem and ]
w h o owns property not exceeding £150 in value (exclusive of a dwelling-house, if any).
9. Patients to w h o m section 3, 7, or 3 applies shall, in addition to the fees in such
sections prescribed, respectively pay the following fees for services as hereinafter :
Provided that the fee for maternity attendance shall, in the case of holders of blue
and buff certificates include the fee which such holders are required to pay under
sections 7 and S for each day in the hospital.
