Disqualification of Members.
CLAUSE
12.—No parson shall be capable of being
elected a member of the Council, or, having been elected,
shall remain a member of the Council, who—-
(1) is a judge of any Court in the Colony; or
(2) is a public contractor; or
(3) is under 25 years of age; or
(4) is not a British subject; or
(6) is unable to speak, read and write one of the
following languages, English, Turkish, Greek ; or
(6) is not qualified to ba registered and is not actually
registered as a voter for some electoral district; or
(7) is an uncertified bankrupt; or
(8) has been dismissed from the Government service
in consequence of an offence involving moral
turpitude; or
(9) has been debarred from practising as a legal or
medical practitioner by order of any competent
authority; or
(10) has been convicted of any offence and sentenced
to imprisonment for a term not less than six
months, until the expiration or remission of such
sentence or of the unexpired residue thereof.
Oath of AUcqiance
CLAUSE
14.—No member of the Council shall sit or vote
therein until he shall have taken and subscribed the
Oath of Allegiance in the prescribed form before the
CouncU.
Provided that every person authorised by L a w to m a k e
an affirmation or declaration instead of taking an oath
m a y moke such affirmation or declaration instead of
the said oath.
