INSURANCE OF LETTERS, (a)
Letters for the United Kingdom, certain British Possessions and Foreign Countries
can be insured, subject to limitations and the Postal Insurance Regulations, 1924, at the
Post Offices at Famagusta, Kyrenia, Larnaca, Limassoi, Nicosia, Paphos, Pedoulas,
Platres and Troodos.
The maximum sum of insurance which m a y be effected on letters addressed to the
United Kingdom and Egypt is £120.
The fees payable on letters for countries to which the system of insurance extends
are as follows :—
Registration Fee
2/,cp.
Insurance fee for every £12 or fraction of that amount of the sum assured 2cp.
The registration and insurance fees must be pre-paid in addition to the full postage.
Compensation for the loss of an insured letter, or its contents, will not exceed the
amount of the actual loss and will in no case exceed the m a x i m u m sum of insurance
admitted by the country of destination.

INLAND.
The rates of postage on parcels intended for delivery within the Island are as
follows :—

FOREIGN.
Parcels are accepted for, and received from, all countries which have adopted the
Parcels Post system, at various rates of postage.
Dirrct parcel post mails are exchanged between Cyprus and the United Kingdom,
Cyprus and France, and Cyprus aud Egypt.
The ratos of postage on parcels addressed to the United Kingdom are :— s. cp.

The limits of size are generally 3 feet 6 inches in length and 6 feet in length and girth
combined.
The limit of weight is 11 lb.
R E - D I R E C T I O N .
Parcels re-directed from one Post Office to,another in Cyprus shall be liable to additional
postage at the full inland rate for each re-direction.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE
The Island Postmaster shall not be liable to make good any claim arising out of the loss,
damage or delay of parcels sent by post.
A system of compensation for loss of or damage to munsured parcels is in force between
Cypras, lingland. Egypt aud France. The maximum amount of compensation payable is £1.
CUSTOM HOUSE DECLARATION.
The sender of each parcel for abroad will be required tofillup a Custom House Declaration
Form. Up«-ii this form must be given an accurate statement of the contents and value, date
of posting, and the sender'.-, signature and address.
CUSTOMS REGULATIONS.
r.ircL'is on arrival iu Cvprus will be liable co examination by an Officer of Customs,
who will assess the amount of Customs dues to be charged thereon. The Customs dues will be
collected at the time of delivery, and no parcel can be delivered until the Customs and all other
charges are paid.
Parcels found to contain forbidden articles and parcels, the contents and value of which
have been falsely declared, may be dealt with according to the laws on the subject. And.
generally the senders of parcels, whether in Foreign Countries or Cyprus, will be required to
conform to the Customs and other laws or regulations from time to time in force in respect of
such parcels.
Parcels which cannot be delivered, returned to the senders, or re-directed, and which have
thus become undeliverable, will eventually be returned to the country of origin.
Parcels becoming offensive or injurious to any Officer of the Post Office or other person, or
co other parcels will be disposed of as the Island Postmaster may direct.
