Live bees are allowed to pass bj* letter post on condition that they are sent in suitable
cases, and so packed as to avoid all risk of injury to officers of the Post Office or to other
packets.
Printed Papers and Commercial Papers must be posted either without a cover or in
an unfastened envelope, or in a cover which can be easily removed for the purpose of
examination without breaking any seal, or tearing any paper, or separating any adhering
surfaces. A packet posted without a cover m a y not be fastened or otherwise treated so
as to prevent easy examination. It may, however, be secured with string.
Samples must be sent in such a manner as to be easy of examination and, when
practicable, must l>e sent in covers open at the ends.

For each " Express " letter (United Kingdom only) the fee is olep. in addition to
the usual postage.
INSURANCE OF LETTERS.
Letters for the United Kingdom, certain British Possessions and Foreign Countries
can be insured, subject to limitations and the Postal Insurance Regulations, 1924. at the
Post Offices at Famagusta, Kyrenia, Lamaca, Limassoi, Nicosia, Paphos. Pedoulas,
Platres and Troodos.
The m a x i m u m sum of insurance which m a y be effected on letters addressed to the
United Kingdom and Egypt is £120.
The fees payable on letters for countries to which the system of insurance extends
are as'follows':—

Insurance fee for every £12 or fraction of that amount of the sum assured 2cp.
The registration and insurance fees must be pre-paid in addition to the full postage.
Compensation for the loss of an insured letter, or its contents, will not exceed the
amount of the actual loss and will in no case exceed the m a x i m u m sum of insurance
admitted by the country of destination.
