INSURANCE.
AUTHOMTT.
1. If any article of pecuniary value enclosed in or forming part of an insured parcel be lost
or damaged whilst in the custody of the Island Postmaster, the Island Postmaster may (subject
to the approval of the High Commissioner) pay to any person or persons who may in the opinion
of the Island Postmaster establish a reasonable claim to compensation, having regard to the value
of the article, the care with which it was packed and other circumstances, such sum in respect of
such parcel as he may think just.
The Island Postmaster is not liable either personally or in his official capacity to any action
or other legal proceeding in respect of or in consequence of the loss or damage of articles enclosed
in or forming part of any parcel. And, subject to the approval of the High Commissioner, the
decision of the Island Postmaster on all questions arising between him and any person claiming
payment in respect of the loss or damage of any article enclosed in or forming part of a parcel
shall he final.
2. (a) Parcels containing watches, jewellery or any other articles of gold or silver cannot be
Bent by parcel post unless insured for at least part of their value.
(b) Parcels containing coin cannot be accepted for transmission by parcel post even
if insured.
(c) Any parcel posted uninsured and found to contain any of the above named articles will
be returned to the sender by the Island Postmaster or his deputies.
(if) A compulsory registration fee of -kp. will be collected on the delivery of every uninsured
parcel received from other administrations and found to contain any of the above named articles.
3. The following fees are charged in respect of parcels posted in Cyprus addressed
to the United Kingdom, certain British Colonies and foreign countries upon which it is
desired to effect an insurance for the payment of compensation for loss or damage while
in transmission through the Post, subject to the Postal Insurance Regulations, 1922.

T h e compensation payable in respect of an Insured parcel will not exceed the s u m
: pecified as the "Limit of Insurance."
Insured parcels are accepted at the Post Offices of Nicosia, Limassoi, Larnaca, F a m a –
gusta, Paphos, Kyrenia, Platres and Troodos only.

COLLECTION OF TRADE CHARGES.
REMBOURSEMENT SYSTEM.
1. The " Remboursement" system is designed to meet the requirements of persons who
wish to pay for articles sent to them at the time of receipt of the articles and also to meet the
requirements of traders and others who wish to recover through the agency of the Post Office the
value of articles supplied by them.
2. Throughout these Regulations the amount to be collected under the " Rembonrnpmi-ni-»
system is called the " Trade Charge."

3. The amount of Trade Charge shall not exceed the limits accepted by the countrv of
destination and the maximum shall in no case exceed £ 4 0 including the fees payable at the Offir«*
of Origin and Postage.
