The importation into the Islaud of the under-mentioned goods articles and merchandise
is prohibited absolutely:
(1). Silver or copper coins.
(2). Beshliks, altiliks or metallique piastres.
(3). All sovereigns and half sovereigns coined before the reign of Her late Most
Gracious Majesty Queeu Victoria.
(4). All sovereigns and half sovereigns which are below the least current weight as
denned in "Tne Coiuage Act, 1870," or are otherwise not legally current in England.
(5). Th**** substance known as Hashish.
(6). Salt other tnan table and rock salt.
The importation of the undor-mentioued goods, articles and merchandise is subject to the
following restrictions :
(1). The importation iuw the Islaud of tire-arms, detached portions offire-armsand
side-arms is prohibited except—
(*•/.- at the ports of Larnaca, Limassoi and Famagusta, and
(p.) without a special license under the hand of the Chief Secretary issued under
L a w 2-1 of ls7y, sec. 30.
(2). The importation of gunpowder (except for the use of his Majesty's Naval and
Military forces) is prohibited except—
(•*.) at the ports of Larnaca and Limassoi (for Famagnsta see (2) below), and at
the last named port the importation of gunpowder by any person in any greater
quautity than teu okes or twenty-eight pounds is prohibited, and
(fc. i in kess or barrels of a capacity not exceeding ten okes or in dusks _ of 1 lb. or of
4 U>. except where the High Commis-iouer has by special permission authorised
the importation in some other manner.
(3). The importation of shot, percussion caps, cartridges (other than ball cartridges^
and side-arms is restricted to the ports of Larnaca and Limassoi (for Famagusta see (2)
beiow;.
(4). The importation of bull cartridges or of ball cartridge-cases except for the use of
His Majesty's Naval and Military forces is prohibited, except—
('.'.") at the ports of Larnaca and Limassoi (for Famagusta see (2) below), and

(5). 11';. The importation of dynamite, nitroglycerine, gun-cotton, fulminate of mercury
or of other metals or of any kindred substance is prohibited—

of all descriptions/including empty cartridge cases, may be imported at the Port
of Famairnsta by such persou or persons as may be authorised in that behalf by
special permission of the High Commissioner given under the hand of the Chief

Commissioner may see fit to impose: and upon such importation the said articles
shall be landed at "such place and in such manner as the Commissioner and Principal
Orricer of Customs of the District of Famagusta shall appoint (a).
