Since the construction of the road from Larnaca to Mari River via Kophinou
this road has been abandoned -frith the exception of portion from Scala to
Salt Lake and the Salt Lake Causeway, and the portion formed from Zivi
to Mari Bridge in 1900-1901. These portions have been maintained up to
present date. The Pouzi River has been bridged and a commencement
made to renew the road by village labour near Kiti and Sophtades.
Practicable for wheeled traffic only in fine weather ; 5 miles included iu
Central Mesaoria Road, remainder of the road now abandoned
Fair Carriage Road. This road, now known as the Larnaca-Lefkoniko
Road, commences at Larnaca and passes by Pyla and Kondea across
the plain of the Mesaoria to Prastio and terminates at Lefi-roniko It
is now the principal route from Larnaca Lo Famagu<ta as it joins tlie
Nicosia-Famagusta Road below Kondea, which proceeds via Kuklia
to Famagusta
