IMPORT DUTY—continued.
AOTHORITT.
TAI5LE OF EXEMPTION'S.
i.—All goods imported for the Government of Cyprus to be used in the public service and
duly certified as so imported by tho Chief Secretary to Government.
ii.—All Militaiy Stores imported by Her Majesty's W a r Department and duly certified as
such by the Officer to w h o m they aro consigned.
iii.—All goods imported for the use of the High Commissioner and duly certified by the High
Commissioner to be so imported, and if any article or thing on which duty has been paid at
the time of importation be subsequently suppliod for tho use of tho High Commissioner, the
amount of the duty on the article or thing so supplied shall be repaid out of tho Treasury on
the order of the High Commissioner..
iv.—All articles of Military equipment imported by and for the use of any Officer of Her
Majesty's land forces.
v . — G o o d s and Stores of every description supplied under contract with Her Majesty's W a r
Department for the public use of Her Majesty's land forces, duly certified as such by the principal
Commissariat Officer, such certificate to be couutorsigued by the Chief Secretary to Government.
vi.—Uniforms of Puhjic Officers aud professional robes of Legal or Judicial Officers in the
employment of Her Majesty's Government, provided that such uniforms or robes are introduced
for the personal use only of such officers, and hare beeu duly authorized.
vii.—Professional robes of Advocates entitled to practise in Cyprus.
viii.—Authorized uniforms of Foruign Consuls and Consular Officers and national flags
imported for their use.
Authorized uniforms of any Foreign Governmeut to be worn by persons entitled to wear them.
Government medals and decorations to be worn by persous resident in Cyprus.
ix.—Fire-arms for the personal use of Officers of Her Majesty's Naval and Military Forces.
x.—Paving stones imported by Muuicipal Councils iu the Island to be used for tbe paving
of streets within the Municipal limits, and duly certified as so imported by the President and
Cashier of any Municipal Council.
xi.—Street lamps and theirfittingsimported by Municipal Councils in the Island to be used
in the lighting of Streets withiu the Municipal limits, and duly certified as so imported by the
President aud the Cashier of any Muuicipal Council.
xii.—Casks and vats, and staves and hoops for use iu constructing casks and vats.
xiii.—Microscopes aud all microscopical and other apparatus or appliances for purposes of
scientific investigation and research.
xiw—Gymnastic apparatus, mathematical and geuerally all other instruments used in schools
for educational purposes, which are imported for the use of schools.
xv.—Animals and livestock, atlases and maps, auchors and chains (ships'), bark, boats,
charcoal, church furniture, and articles inteuded to be used in the building andfittingup of
churches and mosques and vestments and other articles necessarily used for religious services
and certified to be so intended or used, as the case m a y be, by the proper ecclesiastical
authority, coals, empty casks and sacks, freshfish,gold bullion and specie, ice, lime, medicines
and medical appliance**, pitch and tar, printed books, sawdust, silk-worms' eggs, sponges taken
by licensed boats, stationery, printing paper, whether white or coloured, printing ink, printers'
type, and printing materials, sulphur, wheat, barley, oats, vetches,flour,bran, chopped straw,
cotton seed, fodder for cattle, and all mechanical appliauces for use in manufacture and
examination of wine; sulphur syringes, tombstones and memorial tablets, and tools and
implements used iu Agriculture aud Handicrafts.
xvi.—Machinery aud parts of machinery and theirfittings,connections and gearing.
T h e High Commissioner may in certain cases order admission free of dutv of goods sent for
use in Consular Offices (Sec. 11 of L a w X X I I . of 1S99).
