II.—The importation of the under-mentioned goods, articles aiid merchandise i-j
subject to tbe following rest.-ictions :
(I). T h e importation into the Island of fire-arms, detached portions of fire-arms
and side-arms is prohibited except—
(«.) at the ports of L a m a c a aud Limassoi, and
(b.) without a special license under the hand of the Chief Secretary issued
under the '* Fire-arms (Importation) L a w , 1^91."
(2). T h e importation of gunpowder (except for the use of His Majesty's Naval
and Military forces) is prohibited except—
(or.) at tbe ports of Larnaca, and Limassoi, aud at the last named port the
importation of gunpowder by any persou in any greater quantity than ten
okes or twenty-eight pounds is prohibited, aud
(b.) in kegs or barrels of a capacity not exceediug ten okes except where the
High Commissioner has by special permission authorised the importatiou iu
some other manner.
(3). T h e importation of shot, percussion caps, cartridges (other than ball cartrid–
ges) and side-arms is restricted to the ports of Larnaca, and Limassoi, and at
tbe last named port the importation of cartridges by any person in greater - ••
quantity than tea okes or twenty-eight pounds is prohibited.
(-t). T h e importation of ball cartridges or of ball cartridge-cases except for the
use of His Majesty's Naval and Military forces is prohibited, except—
(a.) at the ports of Laraaca and Limassoi, and
(li.) with the special permission of the High Commissioner.
(5). T h e importation of dynamite, nitroglycerine, guu-cottou, fulminate of mercury
or of orLer metals or of any kindred substance is prohibited—
(«.) except at tbe port of Laraaca. aud
(6.) with the special permission cf the High Commissionr, such permission
being iu writing under the hand of the Chief Secretary to Government and
subject to suchcoudi tions as the High Commissioner m a y thiukfitto impose.
((J). T h e landing in Cyprus of cattle, horns, hoofs, bones, fodder, litter or dung
from vessels arriving from places -where cattle disease has beeu publicly notified
to exist, is prohibited.
(7). T h e importation of hides and skins is restricted to the port of Larnaca (except
iu cases where special permission under the hand of the Chief Medical Officer
has been obtained to import them at some other place) and such importatiou
shall, iu all cases, te subject to the regulations in that behalf for the time being
in force under the **Contagious Diseases (Animals') Ordinauce, 1830."
(S). T h e importation of mgs"and old clothiug into any port or place of the Island
of Cyprus, other than Larnaca, is prohibited, and such importatiou is liable to
be prohibited in auv case iu which the Chief Medical Officer or any Officer
acting for or delegated by him certifies that the importation of rags or old
clothing is likelv 7o be iujurious to the public health.
III.—Tbe following"Notifications and Orders of the High Commissioner in Council
re rescinded:
(1). T h e Notification published in paragraph N o . 8 of the Official Gazette N o . 3,
dated the lst Januarv, 1879.
(2). T h e Notification published iu paragraph 7 of the Official Gazette N o . 32,
dated the Slst Julv, 1S79, and the Order of the High Commissioner in Council
dated the 2nd August, ISSO, publisheil in the Official Gazette No. 53. confirming
and continuing the said Notification.
