ix.—Fire-arms for tbe personal x\--ti of Officers of Her Majesty's Naval and Military
Forces.
x.—Faving stones imported by Municipal Councils in the Island to be used for tbe
paving of streets withiu tbe Municipal limits, and duly certified as so imported by tho
President and Cashier of any Municipal Council.
xi.—Street lamps and theirfittinjrsimported by Municipal Councils iu the Island to
be used in the lighting of Streets wichin the Municipal limits, and duiy certified as so
imported by the President and the Cashier of any Municipal Council.
xii.—Casks and vats, and staves and hoops for use in constructing casks and vats.
xiii.—Microscopes and all microscopical and other apparatus or appliances for purposes
of scientific investigation and research.
xiv.—Gymnastic apparatus, mathematical and generally all other instruments used in
schools for educational purposes, which are imported for the use of schools.
xv.—Animals and livestock, atlases and maps, anchors nnd chains (ships'), bark,
boats, charcoal, church furniture, and articles intended to bo used in the building and
fitting up of churches and mosques and vestments and other articles necessarily used for
religious services and certified to be so inteuded or used, as the case may be, by the pro–
per ecclesiastical authority, coals, empty casks and sacks, fresh fish, gold bullion and
specie, ice, lime, medicines and medical appliances, pitch and tar, princed books, sawdust,
silk-worms*' eggs, sponges taken by licensed boats, stationery, printing paper, whether
white or coloured, printing ink, printers' type, aud printing materials, sulphur, wheat,
barley, oats, vetches,flour,bran, chopped straw, cotton seed, fodder for cattle, and all
mechanical appliances for use in manufacture aud examination of wine; sulphur syringes,
tombstones and memorial tablets, nnd tools and implements used in. Agriculture and
Handicrafts.

The High Commissioner m a y in certain cases order admission free of dutv of goods
sent for use in Consular Offices (Seel 11 of L a w . X X I I . of 1899).

Dutiable articles that have previously been exported from Cypras, provided they are
re-imported not later than one year after exportation. *">.*.
Hospital appliances or equipment, certified under the hand of the Chief Medical
Officer to be imported for the use of any Hospital.
DRAWBACK OF LMVOP.T DCTY.
"Wheu any Import Duty shall have beeu paid iu respect of any wine, spiiiis, malt
liquors, tobacco, cigars, or articles of food supplied for the use of any mess on
board any of Her Majesty's ships of war. a drawback of the amount of che duty so paid
m a y be allowed, or if such goods are shipped from the Customs store before payment of
duty, the amount of such duty m a y be remitted on the production of a certificate from
the proper officer of Customs that such goods have been actually shipped ou board oue of
Her Majesty's ships, a receipt from the Paymaster of such ship for the goods aud a
written undertaking from the Paymaster or other proper officer of such ship"that if such
goods or any part thereof shall be at any time re-landed, the duty shall be paid thereou.
In lien of drawback of import duty paid in respect of any wine, spirits, malt liquors.
toi-acco, cigars or articles of food imported aud subsequently actual!v consumed or used by
Hor Majesty's Land Forces,fixedmouey allowances are paid out of the Islaud Treasurv
to the Officers aud Soldiers of Her Maje'sty's Land Forces quartered within the Island.
