Studies for Part G.3 of the Project
We refer to Section 3.01 of, and Part G.3 of Schedule
2
to, the
Loan
Agreement (Southern Conveyor Project for Water Resources Development)
of
even date herewith between the Repub1ic of Cyprus (the Borrower) and the
International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the Bank). We
hereby confirm to you that the studies referred to therein shal1 include
the fo11owing:
1.
An
updating of the existing study
οη
the operation of the
Kouris Dam, to be based on: (a) the updated runoff series
from the catchment area of the Kouris Dam; (b) the con–
clusions of the existing sedimentation study for the area
dated October, 1983; and (c) the latest demand projections
for the Southern Conveyor Scheme (First Phase and Second
Phase).

pre1iminary study on the recharging of aquifersduring
water spil1s. This study sha11 take into account a11
hydro1ogica1 and engineering considerations. The esti–
mated date for submission of this study to the Bank is
September 30, 1984 •.

pre1iminary plan for the operation of the Southern
Conveyor Scheme dur1ng water shortages. This p1an sha11
inc1ude proposed operating
rule~
for the

oint use of
surface and groundwater (inc1uding mining) during water
shor~ages.
