The above Centre is seeking the assi.stance of
Governments in identifying
suiιtable
experts who may
be avai1able to
aσt
as consultants in the technical co–
operation programme of the United Nations Centre
οη Transnaιtional
Corporations (UNCTC).
.uNCTC is a part of the United Nations Secretariat
ίη
New York and serves as a focal
poίnt
within the
United Nations system for al1 rnatters related
Ιο
trans–
national
corρorations. Α
major component of the work
of
UNCΓC
is its technica.l co-opera'tion programme
designed to assist countries, particularly developing
countries,
ίη
strengthening their own capabilities
ίη
dealing with tran'snational
coφorations.
The technica.l co-operation programme consists
essential1y of advisory projects and training projects.
80th are undertaken in response to the specific re–
quests of host country governments.
Undcr the advisory projects,
UNCΓC
provides
assistance
to
host
couηtήes ίη (ί)
the formulation or
revision of their policies, laws and regulations relating
to foreign
ίnvestment,
acquisition of foreign technology,
and the forms of participation by transnational cor–
porations

the economics of such countries;
(ii)
the
strengthening of institutional mechanisms and admi–
nistrative procedures for
screenίng
and monitoring the
activities
οί
transnational corporations; and
(ίiί)
the
evaluation and negotiation of business arrangements
with transnational corporations
ίη
respect of particular
projects
ίη
various sectors such as
petroleωn,
rnining,
manufacturίng,
forestry,
fisheήes, toUΉSm
and agri–
cultural commodities.
