Tie contract which commence! 0:1 tb» 1st October. 1331, provides that the
mailships employed for this service must be classed as equal to A l at Lloyds
and of a tonnage" of not less than 2.0'X' tons, that the bull, engines, boilers, and
other machinery and equipment ui the steamer are sufficient for the service and
in good and safe condition for the carriage of mails, passengers and cargo, and
adapted for the humane shipping aud unshipping of animals, and that the
service shall provide adequate accommodation for not less than 50 first-class.
