Corpses are conveyed at the rate of Is. per mile, subject to a minimum of £1.
Bank and currency notes and stamps conveyed by passenger train are charged double
parcel rates with a minimum of 5s. per parcel.
Gold and silver, coined or uncoined, manufactured or unmanufactured, pearls, precious
stones, jewellery and trinkets when conveyed at owner's risk are charged 1st class rate ;
when conveyed at Railway risk at double 1st class rate subject to insurance as stated
below.
Perishables.
Fish, fruit, vegetables, meat, dead poultry, cheese, milk, butter, curds, eggs in
haskets or vessels properly secured are accepted for conveyance at owner's risk only
at luggage rates, subject to a minimum of Uj>.
Ice and snow are accepted for conveyance at owner's risk only at half luggage

Plants, cutflowersand shrubs are accepted for conveyance at owner's risk only at

Perishables not taken delivery of at destination within 24 hours are sold at owner's
risk and expense.
Returned empties.—Returned empty baskets, barrels, crates, drums and tins, etc.,
are charged aa follows:— ,

Long, bulky, heavy or "out of gauge " goods.—When such goods occupy* and require
the use of an entire truck, but are not capable of being loaded to the extent ofthe carrying "
capacity of that truck, a -mfrn-mnTn weight m a y be charged or weight m a y be computed
on a measurement basis as the Railway Administration m a y decide. .In the case of
motor cars in cases a minimum charge of2 tons per 8-wheeled wagon is made.
W h e n the condition ofthe goods or article involve the use oftwo wagons the minimum
weight m a y be increased accordingly. ,.-
Bulky or particularly heavy articles which cannot be loaded without exceeding the
ma-rimnm running guage are conveyed only by special arrangement on application to
the Superintendent, Railway.
Explosives.—Explosives and other articles of a highly combustible nature are
carried at owner's risk rates only and their transport cannot be guaranteed except by
special arrangement with the Superintendent, Railway.

Anything exceeding the above will be conveyed only by special arrangement.
Insurance.—When any of the articles enumerated in the scheduletoRegulation 76
of the Railway Regulations, 1934, are contained in a parcel or package tendered for
despatch and the value thereof exceeds £5, the Railway is not responsible for their loss,
destruction or deterioration unless the person sending or tendering them for despatch
has caused their value and contents to be declared and paid 2 per cent, on the value so
declared as insurance to cover increased risk.
Demurrage.—When any wagons are ordered and not used, or. when they are not
loaded or unloaded within 24 hours after their arrival, a demurrage charge is made
at the rate of 5s. per truck or part thereof per day exclusive of Sundays, Christmas
Day and Good Friday.

Store rent.—Goods to be forwarded which are not loaded, or goods received which
are not removed from the Railway goods sheds, yards of other premises within 24
hours from the ***rm«» of arrival are subject to store rent at the rate of 10 pam–
per piece per day or part of a day exclusive of Sundays, Chirstmas Day and Good
Friday.
Goods conveyed or to be conveyed by the Railway m a y be stored in the Railway
goods shed at Famagusta Harbourfreeof charge for seven days after arrival. Thereafter
the following charges are made :—
20 paras per ton per day for the 2nd 7 days.
30 paras J»r ton per day for the 3rd 7 days.
lp. per ton per day thereafter.
Explosives and dangerous or obnoxious goods are not stored.
. I n cases of large consignments or in special circumstances application for special
•terms should be made'in advance to the Superintendent, Railway.
Lost and unclaimed property is subject to a storage charge of lp. per day per
package.
