live bees, silkworms and leeches are allowed to pass by letter post on condition that pnblished in Gazette
they are sent in suitable cases, and so packed as to avoid all risk of injury to officers of r No. 2065 of 13th June,
the Post Office or to other packets.

Printed Papers and Commercial Papers must be posted either without a cover or in
an unfastened envelope, or in a cover which can be easily removed for the purpose of
examination without breaking any seal, or tearing any paper, or separating any adhering
surfaces. A packet posted without a cover m a y not be fastened or otherwise treated so
as to prevent easy examination. It may, however, be secured with string.
Samples must be sent in such a manner as to be easy of examination and, when
practicable, must be sent in covers open at the ends.
There shall not be posted, or conveyed, or delivered by pest any postal packet— ;
(1) Consisting of or containing any indecent or obscene print, painting,photograph, •
lithograph, engraving, book or card, or an indecent or obscene article, whether similar •
to the above or not;
(2) Having thereon or on the cover thereof any words, marks, or designs of an !
indecent, obscene, or grossly offensive character; or
(3) Consisting of or containing—
(a) A n y explosive substance,
(6) A n y dangerous substance,
(c) A n y filthy substance,
(d) A n y noxious or deleterious substance,
(e) A n y sharp instrument not properly protected,
(/) A n y living creature other than live bees, silkworms and leeches.

{g) A n y article or thing whatsoever which is likely to injure other postal )
packets in course of conveyance, or any receptacle in which the same are' •
conveyed, or an Officer of the Post Office or other person who m a y deal with !
such packet; or
j
(4) tontaining or bearing anyfictitiouspostage stamp ; or
(5) Purporting to be prepaid with any stamp which has been previously used to '
prepay any other postal packet or any other revenue duty or tax ; or
j
(6) Having thereon or on the cover thereof any words, letters, or marks (used I
without due authority) which signify, or imply, or m a y reasonably lead the recipient j
thereof to believe that the postal packet is sent on His Majesty's Service ;

(7) Of samples sent in quantities with the intention of avoiding the payment of !
Customs duty;

(8) A n y article prohibited or subject to restrictions under import regulations in the I
country of destination.
