II. If not on the separate system, what provision
is there for the supervision of the prisoners while in
association ?
The Central Prison, Nicosia, is on the separate system,
but prisoners are in association in the workshops.
In the District Prisons each prisoner is kept in a
separate cell when there is sufficient roomj and they
work in associated gangs daring the day.
Warders and Sentries constantly patrol the corridors
and passages and inspect the wards and cells where
prisoners are confined.

Long Sentence Division:
Block N o . 1, 104 cells.
Block No. 2, 97 cells, also 5 Crank Cells, 2 Dark Cells
and 1 Hospital Ward for 12 Patients.
Punishment Block, 14 cells.
School Building, containing 2 separate rooms, each room
measuring 26 feet by 18 feet.
Short Sentence Division:
Block No. 3, 96 Cells. 5 Crank Cells, and 3 Cells for
prisoners under death sentence.
Block No. 4,104 Cells.
Female Division:
18 Cells for Prisoners.
1 R o o m for Visitors.
1 R o o m for Office.
2 Rooms for Female Warders.
Isolation Ward :
4 upstairs rooms for patients.
1 downstairs room used as cooking room.
1 downstairs room used as laundry.
1 downstairs room used as store.
1 downstairs padded room.
6 Reception cells.
