1. His Majesty's Cyprus (Legislative Council) Order in Council,
1925. dated tbe 6th of February, 1925, provides that:—
•i.) Ever-,' male person, being a British subject, or having
resided in the Colony not less than five years, w h o has attained
the age of 21 years, and w h o is a payer of any class of the
taxes called Vershi. and has on or before the lst of January
(" new style ") in any year paid in respect of any electoral
district all Verghi payable by him up to that date, is entitled
to be registered in the following year as a voter, and when
so registered, to vote at the election of members for- such
district:
Provided that any such male person who, on or after the
2nd of January (" new style ") in any year, and before the
tune appointed for making the lists of "voters in that year,
has paid all Verghi payable by him up to the lst of January
(" new style " ) , is entitled to be registered as a voter for such
district on production of the receipt for such payment.
N o person is entitled to be registered as a voter if—
(a) he has, within the six months immediately pt-w-wiin**
the date of registration, received poor relief from public
funds, or
(o) he has been sentenced by any Court in any part of
Bis Majesty's Dominions to death or to penal semtudt
or to imprisonment with hard labour for any term exceediag
12 months, and has not either suffered the punishmea.
to which he was sentenced or such other punishment u
by competent authority was substituted for the soma or
received a free pardon from His Majesty, or
(c) he Ls of unsound mind.
N o person w h o has been retained or employed for reward
by or on behalf of a candidate at an election for all or say
of the purposes of 3uch election, as agent, clerk, messengtr,
or in any other capacity, is entitled to vote at such election.
(ii.) There shall be a session of tha Council once at least
in each year, so that a period of twelve calendar months
do not intervene between the lost sitting of one session sod
the first sitting in the next session.
2. The duration of the session is about 12 weeks.
