(6). The landing in Cyprus of cattle, horns, hoofs,, fodder, litter or dun-*; from
Tessels arriving from places where cattle disease has been publicly notified to exist,
is prohibited. ( For bones see page 10).
(7). (For hides and skins see below).
(8). The importation of rags and old clothing into anj port or place of the Island of
Cyprus, other than Larnaca, is prohibited, and such importation is liable to be
Srohibited in anj case in which the Director of Health or anj Officer acting for or
elegated bj him certifies that che importation of rags or old clothing is likely to be '
injurioug to tbe public health.
Hxx>zs AND SKINS.—The importation of hides and skins of all equines, ruminants and
swine is prohibited except at the Port of Larnaca, and then with the permission of
the Health Officer of the Fort to land them, and after disinfection.
T h e importation of hides and skins of goats, sheep, and similar small ruminants,
and swine is prohibited except at the ports of Larnaca, Limassoi, Famagusta and
Kyrenia, and with the permission of the Health Officer of the Port to land them, and
after disinfection.
A certificate by the Health Officer of the Port that the disinfection has been
accomplished must be presented to the Customs Authorities before the removal of
the hides and skins from the place set aside for their disinfection is allowed.
The importation into the Island of old or used clothes for the purposes of sale or
commerce is absolutely prohibited.
The importation of saccharine is prohibited except in small quantities noe exceeding 2 lbs.
and then onlj with the permission of che Director of Health previouslj obtained in writing.
The importation of indecenc or obscene prints, paintings, photographs, books, cards, litho–
graphic or other engravings, or anj other indecent or obscene articles is prohibited.
The importation of all postcards of private manufacture with any pictorial design
not previously approved for transmission through the Post Offices of Cyprus is prohibited.
The importation of waste or refuse of cotton wool known as ** Flock" is absolutely
prohibited.

(a) Potatoes for seed purposes only m a y be imported at Famagusta, Larnaca, Limassoi or Paphos in such quantities and
from such countries only as shall be specially authorised beforehand in writing by the Director of Agriculture. Tho potatoes
must be imported direct from the country of origin, provided that they may be transhipped if they remain in Customs charge
while at tha transhipping port.
Every consignment of potatoes for seed purposes must be accompanied by the documents set out in Order in CouncU No. 1305
of 20th May, 1929, published in Gazette No. 1985 of 23rd May, 1929, and is subject co inspection by the Director of Agri–
culture or an inspecting officer acting on his behalf.
(6) The importation from the American Continent (including Canada, the United States of America, South America
and West Indies), China. Cochin-China, Greece, India, Russia, Turkenstan, Turkey, and *rom any country not possessing
a Government Entomological service, either directly or indirectly, of cotton seed and seed cotton, and any green or living
part of the Cotton Plant ; of dry leaves, sticks, or refuse of the Cotton Plant; of raw cotton ; and of packing material
which has or is suspected of having been used in the transportation or storage of any part of the Cotton Plant, may be
permitted through the Port of Famagusta if tho importation is accompanied by a statutory declaration in the prescribed
form and if forthwith on importation these articles are disinfected in such manner as the Director of Agriculture shall
prescribe, or placed in quarantine in such place and for such period as he shall deem fit. If the aforesaid articles have
been imported from a country other than those herein mentioned, importation may be permitted through the Port of
Famagusta provided that such importation is accompanied by a statutory declaration by the shipper in the prescribed
form naming the place of origin (Order in CouncU No. 1054 of 13th May, 1925, published in Gazette No. 1696 of 15th
(a) EXEMPTIONS.—Nothing in this Order contained shall be deemed to prohibit the importation of the following articles -.
barley and other cereals, and all dry seeds (except cotton seed) properly cleaned from the husk, straw and earth. A<*oi*ni,Ta.lonia-
almonds, walnuts, chestnuts and other nuts, (free from the outer husks, leaves, stalks and branches), except ground nuts. Preserves.
Crystallized fruits. Bottled and canned fruits and regetables hermetically sealed in proper receptacles Flour and meal of all kinds and
every preparation thereof. Tamarind. Saponaria wood. Vegetables desiccated by art.fleaiheat: aiid enclosed m packages. Dry and
aroniatic plants used for medicinal purpose, and for dyeing, if free of earth. Carobs, if free of earth (Order in CouncU No. 1292, published
