XVIII. O n what conditions are remissions of im–
prisonment granted .
Answers.
Prisoners of good behaviour and industrious in labour
sentenced to not less than two years are, if males, after
three-fourths, or, if females, after two-thirds of their
term of imprisonment has expired, recommended to the
Governor for remission of their sentence, with, or
without, Ticket of Leave.
X I X . Have Coroner's Inquests been held on every
occaaiou of a death in prison during the past year ?
and whut were the results ?
The District Medical Officer certifies as to the cause
of death.
A n inquest was held on every occasion by the Com–
missioner (Coroner) of the District on convicts w h o died
of any causes other than execution, viz.:—on
Convict Yiacoumi Stephani, who died in the General
Hospital, Nicosia, on 4th September, 1927.
Verdict, natural death.
The following executions took place:—-*
(1) Convict Antoni Christofi. at the Limassoi
Prison, on 12th July. 1927 ;
(2) Convict Antoni Rodostheni. (3) Convict Pana-
yoti Rodostheni. and (4) Female Convict Myro-
fora Constandi, at the Paphos Prison, on 19th
July, 1927.
N o inquests were held, but the Medical Officer
certified in each case that death was due to
disloc t ion of the cervical vertebrae.

supplied when so ordered by the Medical Officer of the Prison ;
aiso extra diet of 4i» tirams olives and 40 drams raisins are
supplied once a w**ek. i.e., raisins on Tuesdays and olives on
Sacuniav* to all long sentence male and female prisoners daring
the months when no fruit is given.
