Contract commenced on lst January. I9li6. for fire years. It provides that the
maiiships employed for this ac-vice must be classed as equal to A l at Lloyds
and of a tonnage* of not less than 2.00U tons, that the hull, engines, boilers, and
other machinery and equipment of the steamer are sufficient for the service and
in good and safe condition for the carriage of mails, passengers and cargo, and
adapted for the humane ithipping and unshipping of animals, and that the
service shall provide adequate accommodation for not less than 50 first-class,
30 second-class and 30 deck passengers.
