X.VL.I. O n what conditions are remissions of im–
prisonment granted ?
Answers.
Prisoners of good behaviour and industrious in labour
sentenced to not less than two years are, if males, after
three-fourths, or, if females, after two-thirds of their
term of imprisonment has expired, recommended to the
Governor for remission of their sentence, with, or
without, Ticket of Leave.

The District Medical Officer certifies as to the cause
of death.
A n inquest was held on every occasion by the Com–
missioner (Coroner) of the District on convicts who died
of any causes other than execution, viz.:—on
(1) Convict Theodoros Yianni who died in the
Limassoi Hospital on 13th January, 1925 ; (2) Convict
Polis Michael Thrassi who died in the Limassoi
Hospital on 24th January, 1925; and (3) Convict
Spyros Korphis who died in the General Hospital
Nicosia on 14th August, 1925.
Verdict in each case, natural death.
The following executions took place:—
(1) Convict Leonidas Gavriel, at the Paphos
Prison, on 10th March, 1925; (2) Convict
Michael Yianni, at the Central Prison, on 16th
June, 1925; (3) Convict Hussein Kiamil, at
the Larnaca Prison, on 17th November, 1925;
(4) Convict Hussein M e h m e d E m i n ; (5) Convict
Phiti Constandi, at the Limassoi Prison, on 17th
November, 1925; and (6) Convict Yiannaki
Theochari Harba, at the Central Prison, on lst
December, 1925. N o inquests were held, but
the Medical Officer certified in each case that
death was due to dislocation of the cervical
vertebrae.

also extra diet of 40 drams olives ami 40 drams raisins are
supplied once a week, i.e., raisins on Tuesdays and olives on
Saturdays to all long sentence male and female prisoners
daring
the months when no fruit is given. -
