Contract commenced on lst January, 1921, for fire years. It provides that the
mailships employed for this service must be classed as equal to A l at Lloyds
and of a tonnage of not less than 2.000 tons, that the hull, engines, boilers, and
other machinery and equipment of the steamer are sufficient for the service and
in good and safe condition for the carriage of mails, passengers and cargo, and
adapted for the humane shipping and unshipping of animals, and that the
service shall provide adequate accommodation for not less than 30 first-class.
