Prisoners of good behaviour and industrious in labour
sentenced to not less than two years are, if males, after
three-fourths, or, if females, after two-thirds of their
term of imprisonment has expired, recommended to the*
High Commissioner for remission of their sentence, witb^.
or without, Ticket of Leave.
The •District Medical Officer certifies as to the cause-
of death.
A n inquest was held on every occasion by the Com–
missioner (Coroner) of the District on convicts who die
of any causes other than execution, viz.:—on
(1) Convict Demitri Panaghi w h o died at the Central
Prison Hospital on 23rd February, 1923, (2) Convict
Neocli Constandi who died at the Paphos Prison
Hospital on 5th November, 1923, (3) Convict Yianni
Haralambou Loizides who died at the Central Prison
Hospital on 18th December, 1923. (4) Conviot Nafi.
Mehmet who was executed at the Famagusta Prison
on 19th June, 1923. (5) Convict Kara Christofi Moisi*
who was executed at the Limassoi Prison on 30th
October, 1923. (6) Convict Stylli Constandi and (7)
Convict Halid Mehmet who were executed at the
Central Prison on 27th November, 1923, and (8)
Convict Elia Papa Nicola who was executed at the
Famagusta Prison on llth December, 1923.
Verdict in cases 1, 2, and 3," Natural death." In
cases 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 no inquest was held, but the
Medical Officer certified in each case that death was-
due to " Dislocation of Vertebrae neck " in consequence
of execution.

Rheumatism, malarial fever, diarrhoea, diseases of the
digestive and respiratory system, influenza, dysentery,
dyspepsia, diseases of skin, syphilis, gonorrhoea, consti–
pation, hernia, colic, febricula, anemia, glands in the*
neck, bronchial catarrh, epilipsy, debility.

In addition to above, fresh fruit in limited quantities may he
supplied when so ordered by tbe Medical Officer of the Prison ;
also extra diet of 10 drams olives and 40 drams raisins are
sapplied once a week, ij*., raisins on Tuesdays and olives on
Saturdays to all long sentence mate and female prisoners daring
the months when no fruit is given.
