EGGS.—Importation prohibited except under the following conditions:—•
That the permission in writing of the Director of Agriculture is previously obtained; '.
That the importation is completed between the lst October and 31st January ;•
That each box of any consignment of eggs is sealed by a banderolle affixed by the
Government authority responsible for the silkworm industry in the country of
origin ; and
That every consignment of eggs imported into Cyprus is accompanied by an official
certificate of the Government authority specified above, such certificate or other
document produced by the importer to be approved by the Director of Agriculture
before the consignment of eggs is passed through the Custom--. Each box of the con-
signment shall be banderolled by a Sericulture Inspector with a Cyprus banderolle,
or, ii the Director of Agriculture refuses to allow, the importation, the importer
will be permitted to re-export the eggs within a* m o n t h from the date of such refusal
and failing such re-exportation within such period the said eggs shall be destroyed
without compensation. The Customs authorities must notify tho Director of
Agriculture of the date of such re-exportation or destruction.

TOBACCO.—Importation prohibited, except under permit from High Commissioner, if in packages
weighing less than 20 okes each and bv shius of less than GO tons burden, sec. 26, Law

A N I M A L S
:—Bulls, cows, oxen, heifers, calves, camels, horses, mules, asses, sheep, goats
and swine : Importation restricted to the ports of Larnaca, Famagusta, Limassoi,
Kyrenia and Paphos, landing to be m a d e in quarantine and with the permission
of the Director of Agriculture, or an Inspector of Cattle Disease, or a Health Officer.
D O G S . — T h e landing in Cyprus of dogs from any port, whether a foreign or a Cyprus port,
is prohibited.
The importation into the Island of the under-mentioned goods, articles and merchandise
is prohibited absolutely:
(1). Silver or copper coins.
(2). Beshliks, alti'iks or metallique piastres.
:3). All sovereigns aud half sovereigns coined before the reign of Her Sate Most
Gracious Majesty (jneeu Victoria.
(*_). All sovereigns and half sovereigns which are below :he least current weight as
detiued in "The Coinage Act. 1»70," or are otherwise not legally current in England.
(5). The substance Known us Hashish.
(6). Salt oner than table and rock salt.
The importation of the under-mentioned goods, articles and merchandise is subject to the
following restrictions :
(1). The importation into the Islaud of fire-arms, detached portions of fire-arms and
tide-arms is prohibited except— .......
(a.) nt the ports'of Larnaca, Limassoi and Famagusta, and
(b.) without a special license-under the hand of the Chief Secretary issued under
Law 24 of 1879, Sec. 30. -•'-'
(2). The importation of gunpowder (except' for the use of his Majesty's Naval and
Military forces) is prohibited except—
la.) at '.he ports of. Larnaca and.Limassoi (for Famagusta .et (2). below).
[ii.) in kegs or barrels of a capacity Dot exceeding ten okes or in jtnsks of. 1 lb. or of
j lb. except where the High Commissioner has by special permission authorised

(3). The importation of shot, percussion caps, cartridges (other tlian ball cartridges)
and side-arms is restricted to the ports of Larnaca, Limassoi and Famagusta.
(4). The importation of ball cartridges or of ball cartridge-cases except for the use of
His Majesty's Naval and Military forces is prohibited, except—
(a.) at the ports of Larnaca, Limassoi and
(b.) with the special permission of the Higli Commissioner (for Famagusta see (2) below).
