Every male person being either ac Ottoman or a British Subject, or having resided in the Island not lesB thanfivejean,
who has attained the age of 21 years and who is a payer of any class of the taxes called Verghi. and has, on or before the daj
appointed for the making of the Voters' Lists in any year paid in respect of any Electoral District all Verghi payable by him
up to the 13 th day of January (" New Style") previous, is entitled to be registered as a voter, and, when so registered, to vote at
the election of Members for such District.
His late Majesty's Order in Council, dated 6th July, 1907, providing for the formation of the Legislative Council, directi
that there shall be a session once at least iu each year so that a period of twelve calendar months ilo not intervene between
the last sitting in one session and thefirstsitting in the next session.
Duration of session about twelve weeks.
The High Commissioner may prorogue or dissolve the Council whenever he thinksfit.but, unless sootier dissolved, the
Elective Members hold their seats until the expiration of five years from the return of the first writs at the last General
Election.
