8. It shall be prohibited to forward parcels which bear on the outside any writing or

drawing of an indecent or offensive nature or within which any contents of a like nature may be
observed, and parcels containing gunpowder, cartridges, oil-skins or other similar oiled goods,
oiled paper, lucifer matches, or anything explosive or liable to sudden combustion, bladders
containing liquid, live animals, grossly offensive orfilthymatter, aud anything in a condition
likely to injure other parcels or any Officer of the Post Office.
9. Parcels containingfish,game, meat, fresh fruit, sweetmeats, eggs, etc., or razors, scissors,
needles, knives, forks, or other sharp instruments will not be accepted unless securely packed so
as to guard against risk or injury to other parcels. Liquids or semi-liquids, such as jellies,
pickles, paint, varnish, etc., wUl not be accepted unless in bottles or cans securely stoppered,
nor powders unless so packed that they cannot escape in transmission or damage the mail.
10. Parcels shall not contain a letter, packet or parcel intended for delivery at an address
other than that borne on the parcel itself.
11. It is also prohibited to send to the United Kingdom foreign reprints of British registered
copyright works, false money, counterfeit, sterling and British silver coin below standard, tobacco
stalks, clocks, watches and metals generally bearing imitations of British assay marks or stamps

12. Parcels re-directed from one Post Office to another in Cyprus shall be liable to
additional postage at the full inland rate for each re-direction. Persons desiring parcels to be
re-directed will be required tofillup a special form for the purpose, or state clearly by letter that
they wish this to be done, otherwise the parcels will not be forwarded.

IS. In any case where it may be found necessary or expedient for the safety or protection
of parcels that any parcel should be forwarded by some later despatch than that for which it was
posted, the parcel may be delayed to the next subsequent despatch. In exceptional cases, for
nstance, during storms in winter, the delay m a y be longer.

14. W h e n the despatch from a Post Office of letters would be delayed by the despatch of
parcels at the same time, such parcels or any of them may be detained until the next subsequent
despatch, but not later, except as in the last preceding paragraph
15. In no case will Parcel Mails arriving from abroad be dealt with until after the ordina
Mails have been despatched.

16. The Island Postmaster shall not be liable to make good any claim arising out of the loss,
damage or delay of parcels sent by post.
17. In all"cases the parcels must be fully prepaid by means of postage stamps affixed to the
parcel, otherwise they will not be accepted for transmission.
DEMURRAGE.
18. Local parcels remaining uncalled for at the places to which they are addressed shall be
liable, after six days' detention,- to a demurrage charge of lcp. per day. No local parcel will be
detained at a Post Office for a period exceeding one month.

19. If a parcel which cannot be delivered bears on the cover the name and address of the
sender, a printed notice shall be sent to hira by post informing him that the parcel (if not
claimed in the meantime by the addressee) will be given up to him or to any person whom he
may direct to call for it, or will be returned to him by post.
20. If the sender elects to have the parcel sent back to him by post he must return the
printed notice with stamps sufficient to cover new postage at the full rate, together with any
other chorees to which the parcel may be liable, including that for demurrage described above.
The parcefshall then be forwarded to him fully prepaid by stamps affixed thereon.
21. If no reply is received in ten days the parcel shall be forwarded to the Returned Letter
Office, Nicosia, for disposal in due course.

Anv parcel which cannot be delivered from any cause shall be detained one month at
the place to which it is addressed, and then forwarded to the Returned Letter Office. All such
parcels received in the Returned Letter Office, shall be opened aud examined, and if upon such
examination the name and address of the sender are ascertained a printed notice such as is
described above shall be sent to him, and the parcel treated in the same manner as a parcel upon
the cover of which the name and address of the sender appears.
=>Z The names and addresses upon all undelivered and unreturnable parcels and the Post
Office's at which they were posted shall be entered on a list which will be exhibited in a
conspicuous position at all Post Offices for inspection by the public.
*4 Personal application for parcels entered on such lists will be entertained tor three
months from the date of entry, after which the parcels shall be disposed of as the Island Post-
