XVII. W h a t provision is made for the education of
prisoners ?
In Central Prison 3 classes of one hour each are held
weekly; in District Prisons there are no schools, but
well-conducted prisoners who can read are allowed to
have religious books of their respective persuasions.
XVIII. O n what conditions are remissions of im–
prisonment granted ?
Prisoners of good behaviour and industrious in labour
sentenced to not less than two years are, if males, after
three-fourths, or, if females, after two-thirds of their
term of imprisonment has expired, recommended to the
High Commissioner for remission of their sentence, with,
or without, Ticket of Leave.

The District Medical Officer certifies as to the cause
of death.- Yes. Inquest held by the Commissioner of
Nicosia (Coroner) on convict No. 4702 Salih M e h m e d
on 22nd September, 1914 ; on convict No. 4232 Mehmed
Emin on 26th September, 1914; on convict No. 4417
Philippo Georgho Komodromo on 30th December, 1914 ;
also by the Commissioner of Paphos (Coroner) on convict
No. 357 Simeo Christofi on 15th January, 1915 ; on
convict No. 499 Costi Yanni on 20th February, 1915,
and on convict No. 517 Neophyto Christodoulou on
1st March, 1915.
