Government House, Nicosia.
is a single-storiea structure
of wood surrounded by a
verandah and a large stone
Gallery on the South side,
with detached Kitchen,
L a m p R o o m and Fuel
Stores of masonry. It
occupies three sides of a
square in the centre of
which is a concrete lawn-
tennis court. There is
also a croquet ground.
There is a separate small
stone building containing
two rooms for the use of the
Private Secretary and
Aide-de-Camp.
There is a range of buildings
near che stables contain–
ing 5 quaners suitable for
grooms and servants.
There is stabling for 12
horses, cow-house, coach–
house, harness-room and
motor shed. There is a
*small glass house with
leau-to for flowers. Water
for the gardeu is procured
from wells bv 3 Air Motors,
aud led conveniently by
pipes. Water for domestic
use is conveyed to the house
by water-carriers who are
paid by the Government. A
labourer is also paid by the
Government to attend to
the earth closets and remove
rubbish.
At the front of the House a
stone building 7' x 6' has
been erected to match the
building, the front half of
which is used as a Sfntiy-
box, and the back half as a
lavatory for guests on the
occasion of dinners, etc.
