not.
Somewhat higher rates
are paid during har–
vesting.
In the native houses domestic servants, chiefly
female, are generally clothed, housed and fed,
in certain Districts receive wages varying
from 10/- to £12 a year. In some cases payment
is made to male servants, reaching £18 per
annum. In foreign households servants are
usually housed and fed, and are paid wages as
high, in some cases, as £4 a month. M e n are
chiefly employed.
