REMARKS
The Town and Village Schools prescribed under the
Education Law are supported by assessment and
Government Grant.
Private Schools are 4 endowed Greek Schools and 17
Moslem supported by Evkaf or Constantinople Grants.
Moslem Schools.—Under Voluntary Contributions £210
are Included alleged to be granted by tbe Constan–
tinople Education Authorities for the maintenance of
11 Special Schools included under Private Schools.
This amount may only be accepted with reservation.
£258 paid by Evkaf or Municipality Funds.
Greek-Christian Schools.—Under Voluntary Contributions
the sum £200 represents Endowments and Voluntary
Contributions from private subscriptions.
NOTB.
The average daily attendance in Moslem Elementary
Schools was 4,400.
And in Greek-Christian Schools 23,179. Attendances
of Boys and Girls have not been separately recorded.
/'Out of £180, £48 axe paid by Evkaf. The rest accrues from
J the School Fand collected by Law and applied to Idadi
j and VietoriaSchooIs. These Schools are under the control
V. of the Governing Body of Moslem Secondary Schools.
The Rushdie School is supported and controlled
by Evkaf.
The Gymnasium comprises also Training and Com–
mercial Branches.
\ These Schools are managed by the T o w n School
Committee. They have received £-140 from
" School Fund " in addition to the Grant.
"The High Schools at Larnaca, Limassoi, Fama–
gusta and Paphos are not aided by the
Government beyond the sums for school fund
£115 collected from each town, and are
dependent on fees or subscriptions. They are
governed by Committees under the Secondary
Education Law.
f This is a Private School on the lines of an
English Grammar School. The language of
instruction is English, but Turkish, Greek and
French and Arabic are also taught, and boys
of all races are received.
