I.—All -roods imported for the Government of Cyprus to be used in che pubhc service aud
duiy certified as so imported by the Chief Secretary to Government.
ii.—All Military Scores imported by His Majescy's W a r Department and duly certified as
such by che Orticer co whom they are consigned.
iii.—All arcicles of Military equipment imported by and for the use of any Officer of His
M..j_s:y"s Ia:i.i forces.
iv.—i'njO'h and >•:</.-'-> of every description supplied under contract wich His Majesty's W a r
Department for the public u-*e of His Majesty's land forces, duiy certified as such by the principal

vi.—Proteasi-jual robes of Advocates entitled co practise in Cyprus.
vii.—Authorised auirorms of Foreign Consuls aud Consular Officers and national
imported for their use.
Authorised uniforms of any Foreign Government to be worn by persons entitled to wear them
Government medal.-; aud decorations to be worn by persons resident iu Cyprus.
viii.—Fire-arms for the personal use of Officers of His Majesty's Naval and Military Forces.
ix.—Paring stones imported by Municipal Councils in the Island to be used for the pari;
of streets wichin the Municipal limits, and duly certified as so imported by the President and
Cashier of any Municipal Council.
x.—Street iamps and theirfittingsimported by Municipal Councils in the Island to be used
in the lighting of Streets within the Municipal limits, and duly cercified as so imported by the
Presideut and the Cashier of any Municipal Council.
xi.—Casks aud vats, and staves and hoops for use in constructing casks and vats.
xii.—Microscopes and all microscopical and other apparatus or appliances for purposes of
scientific investigation and research.
xiii.—Gymnastic apparatus, mathematical and geuerally all other instruments used in schools
for educational purposes, which are imported for the use of schools.
xiv.—Animals and livestock, atlases and maps, auchors and chains (ships*), bark, boats,
charcoal, church furniture, aud articles intended to be used in the building and fitting up of
churches and mosques, aud vestments and other articles necessarily used for religions services
and certified to be so intended or used, as the case may be, by the proper ecclesiastical
authority, coals, empty casks and sacks, fresh fish, gold bullion and specie, ice, lime, medicines
and medical appliauces. pitch and tar. printed books, sawdust, silk-worms' eggs, sponges taken
by licensed boats, stationery, printing paper, whether white or coloured, printing ink^printers'
type, ami printiug materials, sulphur, wheat, barley, oats, vetches, flour, bran, chopped straw,
coctou seed, fodder fcr cattle, and all mechanical appliances for use in manufacture and
examination or" wine: sulphur syringes, tombstoues and memorial tablets, and tools aud
implements used in A.Ticulture and Handicrafts.
xv.—Machinery and parts of Machinery and theirfittings,connections aud gearing.
The Hiif'u Commissioner mav iu certain cases order admission free of duty of goods sent for
use* iu Consular Offices C>ec. 11 of L a w X X I L of 1899). .
Dutiable articles and articles seut away for the purpose of alteration or repair provided:
(1) that prior to exportation such articles shall have been produced to the Customs for the
purpose of identification on re-importation. (2) or that the Chief Collector of Customs is satisfied
that the articles are the same, (3) aud thac the re-iinportation takes place within one year from
the date of exportation.
Disinfectants imported in bulk (».«., packages each weighing not less than 10 okes or in drums
each not less than five gallons) admitted duty free.
Hospital appliances or equipment, certified under the hand of the Chief Medical Officer to
be imported for the use of auy Hospital.
Firewood, free of imrorc dutv.
Postage Stamps—us*i or unused—other than chose of Cyprus, are free of mport dutv.
Empty cardboard boxes and labels, winch the Chief Colleccor of Cuscoms is satisfied are for
use in connection with the raising of silk-worm eggs.
Iron piping, which che Hi-rh Commissioner is sacisfied is for work of Public utilitv and
'mjurted by auy public Municipal body or auchoricy.
All manure and fertilisers, guano, bonedusc, and all chemical manures and preparations to be
used as manure.

Motor cars, parts of motor cars, their fittings and gearing—free of import dnty nntil 1st
November. 1918.
