COLLECTION OF TRADE CHARGES ON POSTAL PACKETS.
1. The "Cash in Delivery" system is designed co meec che requirements of persons who
wish co pay for articles senc to them ac che cime of receipt of tlie urticles aud also to mi-ec che
requirements of craders and others who wish to recover through che agency of the Pose Office the
value of urticles supplied by chem.
2. Throughout chese Regulations the amount to be collected under the " Cash on Delivery "
system is called the -

Trade Charge."
3. The amounc of Trade Ctlarg- shall noe exceed che limics accepced by che country of
destination and the m a x i m u m shall in no case exceed £20 including che fees payable co the Office
of Destination and Poscage.
4. Every Cash on Delivery parcel or packec posced or delivered in Cyprus shall be chargeable
with snch special fees as m a y be pr-scribed for that purpose

>. T h e fee due to the Office of Origin shall be paid at che ci-i>e of posting. The fee due to
the Office; of delivery shall be deducted, wich tlie Commission on die Money or Poscal Onier
from che amounc of the Trade Charge collected from the addressee of a Cash oo delivery parcel
or picket and shall be forwarded direc: from che Office of Delivery co che sender. These deduc–
tions are to be provided for by che sender and included in che amounc desired co be collecced.
•>. Cash on I'elivery parcels or paekecs are co be accepced at every IHscri-.-c Post Office in
Cyprus and ac Troodos and Placrea on che following conditions :—
The sender shall—
{a) wrice on die cover of che parcel or packec his name and full address, che amonnt in
British currency of che Trade Charge in figures and words, and the name of the Offiw
on wiiich the Money Orler or Postal Order i3 to be drawn. These particulars may be
written on the back" of the parcel or packet if there is no room for them to be wricten
clearly on the front. N o erasure or alteration of the entry of the amonnt shall be
allowed. A n incorrect encry shall be completely obliterated and a fresh entry made ;
{b) fill up a Request Form obcainable ac all Discricc Pose Offices aud che Post Offices
ac Trootlos and Placres wliich includes a declaracion chat the Cash on Delivery parcel
or packet is senc in fulfilment of an order (if che sender desires to correcc che encry of
che Trad-; Charge he shail till up a fresh form);

7. Where a Cash on I 'elivery parcel or packet has been insured, the amounc oitiieinsurance
shall noe exceed che amounc of the Trade Charge, and in che event of loss che amouuc of
indemnity shall be governed, wichout regard to che amounc of che Trade Charge, by the ordinary
rules relating co parcels, insured Iecters or regiscered packets.
3. T h e amounc of the Trade Charge snail not exceed the amount of the Declared Value
together wich the poscage and che fees payable on che parcel or packec in connection wich the
Cash on Delivery system.
9. A n y conversion of money thac m a y be necessary shall be effecced ac che Office of
Destination.
10. Where che sender of a Cash on Delivery parcel or packec wishes to reduce or cancel the
-•tirade Charges on a parcel or packec, he shall fill up a special form co be obtained ac all Discricc
Post Offices and affix thereto a poscage stamp or scamps denoting che amount of che fee prescribed
for chat purpose.
11. Where a Cash on Delivery parcel or packec—(1) has been irregularly accepced for a
country co which che system of Cash on Delivery does not exteud ; or (2) bears a Trade Charge
which exceeds che m a x i m u m prescribed in the country of destination ; or (3) lacks some essential
particulars, ic m a y be reeurned co the sender.
