Since the construction of the road from Larnaca to Mai: River via Kophino
rL

.-* road has been abandoned with rhe exception of portion from Scala to
Salt Lake and the Salt Lake Causeway, and the portion formed from Zvgi
ro Mari Bridge in 1900-1901. These portions have been maintained up to
present date. The Road is bridged throughout except for Latorou
Causeway impassable in winter, aud a commencement made to renew the
road bv village labour near Kiti and Sophrades
Practicable for wheeled traffic only in fine weather ; 5 miles included iu
Central Mesaoria Road, remainder of the road now abandoned
G'X-d Carriage Road. This road, uow known as the Larnaca-Lefkoniko
R.-.ad. commences ar Larnaca and passes by Pyla and Kondea across
rhe plain of the Mesaoria to Prastion and terminates at Lellcniko It
is now rhe principal route from Larnaca l.o Famagu^ra as it joins the
Nic'.*jia-Faniagiibta Road below Kondea, which proceeds via Kouklia
to Fama-iusta
