T A B L E O F E X E M P T I O N S .
i.—All goods imported for the Government of Cyprns to be used in che pubhc service and
duly certified as so imported by che Chief Secretary to Government.
i'i.—All Militarv Stores imported by His Majesty's W a r Department and duly certified as
such by the Officer to whom they are consigned.
iii.—All goods imported for the use of the High Commissioner aud duly certified by the High
Commissioner to be* so imported, and if any article or thing on which duty has been paid at
the time of importation be subsequently supplied for the use of the High Commissioner, the
amount of the duty on the article or thing* so sapplied shall be repaid out of the Treasury on
the order of the High Commissioner. («)
iv.—All articles "of Military equipment imported by and for the use of any Officer of His
Majesty's land forces.
v.—Goods and Stores of every description supplied under contract with His Majesty's W a r
Department for the public use of His Majesty's laud forces, duly cercified as such by the principal
Commissariat Officer, such certificate to be countersigned by the Chief Secretary to Government.
vi.—Uniforms of Public Officers aud professional robes of Legal or Judicial Officers hi the
employment o? His Majesty's Government, provided that such uniforms or robes are introduced
for the personal us-* only of snch officers, and have been duly authorised.

vii.—Professional robes of Advocates entitled to practise in Cyprus.
viii.—Authorised uniforms of Foreign Consuls and Consular Officers and national flags
imported for their use.
Authorised uniforms of any Foreign Government to be worn by persons entitled co wear them.
Government medals and decorations to be worn by persons resident in Cypras.
ix.—Fire-arms for the personal use of Officers •:•:" His Majesty's Xavai and Military Forces.
x.—Pavin-r stones imported by Municipal Councils in the Island to be used for the paving
of streets within che Municipal limits, and duly certified as so imported by the President aud
Cashier of any Municipal Conncil.
xi.—Street lamps and theirfittingsimported by Municipal Councils in tiie Island to be used
in the lighting of Streets within the Municipal limits, and duly certified as so imported by the
President and the Cashier of any Municipal Council.
xii.—Casks and vats, and staves and hoops for use iu constructing casks aud vats.
xiii.—Microscopes and all microscopical and other apparatus or appliances for purposes of
scientific investigation and research.
xiv.—Gymnastic apparatus, mathematical and generally all other instruments used in schools
for educational purposes, which are "imported for the use of schools.
xv.—Animais and livestock, atlases and maps, anchors and chains ('shirs'), hark, boats.
charcoal, church furniture, and articles intended to be used in the building andfittingup of
churches and mosqnes. and vestments and other articles necessarily used for reiii-ious services
and certified to be so intended or used, as the case may be. by the proper ecclesiastical
autlu-ritv. coals, empty casks and sacks, freshfish,gold bullion and specie, ice. lime, medicines

The Hieh Commissioner mav in certain cases order admission free of dutv"of foods sent for
use in Consular Offices (Sec. 11 of L a w X X I I . of 1399'.
Dutiable articles and articles sent away for the purpose of alteration or repair provided:
(l.i that prior to exportation such article: shall bare'been produced to the Customs for the
purpose of identification on re-importation. </2 • or that the Chief Collector of Customs is satisfied
that ..he articles are the same. (3) and that the re-importation takes place within one vear from
the date of exportation.
