Other Information useful
for a new High Commissioner
Government House, Nicosia,
is a single-storied structure
of wood surrounded by a
verandah and a large stone
Gallery on the South side,
with detached Kitchen,
Lamp Room and Fuel
Stores of masonry. It
occupies three sides of a
si-nare in the centre of
which is a concrete lawn-
tennis court. There is a
croijuet ground.
There is a separate small
stone building containing
two rooms occupied by the
Private Secretary and
Aide-de-Camp.
There is a rang, of buildings
near the ..tables contain–
ing ;~> ijuarters suitable for
grooms and servants.
There is stabling for 12
horses, cow-house, coach–
house, harness-room and
motor shetl. There is a
smail glass house with
lean-to for {lowers. Water
for the garden is procured
from wells by 2 Air Motors,
and led conveniently by
pipes. Water* for domestic
use is conveyed to the house
by water-carriers w h o are
paid by the '-Gorernment. A
labourer is also paid by the
Government to attend to
the earth closets and remove
rubbish.
