R E M A R K S
The Town aad Village Schools prescribed under the
Education Law are supported by assessment and
Government Grant.
Private Schools are chiefly small Village Schools not yet
under the Education Law and supported by the
Voluntary Contributions of the Parents.
Moslem Schools.—Under Voluntary Contributions £362
are included alleged to be granted by tbe Constan–
tinople Education Authorities for tbe maintenance of
11 Special Schools included under Private Schools.
This amount may only be accepted with reservation.
£205 paid by Evkaf or Municipality Funds.
Greek-Christian Schools.—Under Voluntary Contributions.
The sum £244 represents School Fees, and Voluntary
Contributions from private subscriptions.
NOTE.
The average daily attendance in Moslem Elementary
Schools was 3,747.
And in Greek-Christian Schools 20,317. Attendances
of Boys and Girls have not been separately recorded.

Secoudary Schools. Tlie grant of £50 to the
Victoria Girl's School is for che Elementary
teaching given.
The Rushdie School is supported and controlled
by Evkaf.
The Cyprus Gymnasium and Nicosia High Girls'
School are managed by a Committee, under the
Secondary Education Law, and receive grants
from the Government as Training Schools for
Teachers.
The Gymnasium and Phaneromeni Girls' School
are nnder the management of a private Com–
mittee.
The High Schools at Larnaca, Limassoi, Fama–
gusta and Papho are not aided by the
Government. They are governed by Com–
mittees under the Secondary Education L a w .
This is a Private School on the lines; of an
English Grammar School. The language of
instruction is English, bnt Turkish, Greek and
French and Arabic are also taught, and boys
of all races are received.
