for a new High Commissioner
Government House, Nicosia,
is a single-storied structure
of wood surrounded by a
verandah and a large scone
Gallery on the South side,
with detached Kitchen,
L a m p R o o m and Fuel
Stores of masonry. It
occupies three sides of a
square iu the centre of
which is a concrete lawn-
tennis coun. There is a
croquet ground.
There is a separate small
stone building containing
two rooms occupied by the
Private Secretary and
Aide-de-Camp.
There is a rauge of buildings
near the stables contain–
ing 5 quarters suitable for
jjrooms and servants.
There is stabling for 12
horses, cow-house, coach–
house and harness-room.
Water is procured from
wells and conveyed ro the
house by wacer-carriers
who are paid 1-y the
Government. A labourer
•is also paid by the Govern–
ment to attend to chi- earth
closets aud remove rubbish.
