Other Information useful
for a new High Commissioner
Government House, Xicosia
is a single-storied structure
of wood surrounded by a
verandah, with detached
Kitchon, L a m p R o o m and
Fuel Stores of masonry.
It occupies three sides of a
square in the centre of
which is a concrete lawn-
tennis court.
There is a separate small
stone building containing
two rooms occupied by the
Private Secretary and
Aide-de-Camp.
There is a range of buildings
near the stables contain–
ing 5 quarters suitable for
grooms and servants.
There is stabling for 20
horses, coach-house and
harness-room. "Water is
procured from wells and
conveyed to the house by
water-carriers w h o are
paid by the Government.
A labourer is also paid by
the Government to attend
on the eanl: closets and
remove rubbish
The verandah at the back
of the north -rring has been
replaced by a corridor 120
ft. long aud 16 feec wide.
The -walls of the main
building form both ends
and one side of the corridor
aud tlie other side is built
of masoury. with window
openings at intervals.
Tho roof of rhe corridor is
covered with corrugated
iron with m a : screens fixed
above in summer.
