I. If the prison is on the separate system,
is the separation complete? And if not, what
is the separation enforced by day and night
respectively?
II. If not on the .separate system, what
provision is there for the supervision of the
prisoners while in association?
The Central Prison, Nicosia, is on the
separate system, but prisoners are in associa–
tion in the work shops.
In the District Prisons each prisoner is
kept in a separate cell when there is room
sufficient to allow of this.
By "Warders and Sentries constantly patrol–
ling the corridors and passages and inspecting
the wards and cells where prisoners are confined.

H o w many cells are there; and how
manv associated wards?
IV. Taking the averaqt, number of prisoners
in gaol, how many cubic ieet of space are there
for°each prisoner'during the hours of sleep?
