Further, the Government has ruled that a m a n w h o carries on a lucrative business
in addition to agriculture should be assessed for and pay Temettu on the profits derived
from such business.
Gardeners are to be dealt with in the same manner as agriculturists.

(Military Exemption Tax.)
Two shillings and four and a half copper piastres per head for all male inhabitants
of the Island, not being foreigners, of not less than IS years or more than 60 years
of age.

EXEMPTIONS :—
Priests of all religious denominations ; all persons who are exempt from Military
Service by Turkish law either by personal service or by payment made before the passing
of Ordinance No. T. of 187S ; all persons mentally or physically incapacitated from
Military Service ; and all persons in the 3Iilitary or Civil employment of the Government
of the Island.
