TI7HE3 OF OLJTSS aXD OLIVE-OlL.
One-tenth of the quantity produced of Olives and Olive-oil is assessed on the trees
and tha value, accordiug to prices fixed annually by the Medjliss Idares, collected from
the growers.
Fines in case of delay: " Payment in respect of the tithes of Olives and Olive-oil
must be m a d e not later than the 28th February next succeeding the month in which
the value has been fixed. Tithe-payers who have not paid ou the 1st March will be
fined 5*',, on the ainouut due. Those w h o have uot paid ou tbe 1st April will be fined
a further 5?c."

One-tenth is taken iu kind at the Custom-Houses on export.
All other tithes have- been suspended or abolished.
SHEEP AST> GOAT TAX.
2£ silver piastres (8 J c.p.) per head yearly on every sheep and 5 c.p; per head yearly
on every goat one year old and upwards.
The tax on goats may be increased" and that on sheep decreased by the High Com–
missioner in Council provided that no increase shall be m a d e in the total amount receiv–
able as calculated upou the basis of the last preceding official returns of the uumbers
of sheep and goats in the Island.
Sheep and Goats not produced by the owners at the first official enumeration aud
